Recently I worked on a collaboration for The Well by Northwell Health and it went live today! It’s on a topic that took me years to be okay talking about—my experiences with depersonalization and derealization—for me, the most terrifying symptoms of panic disorder.

A wonderful collaboration and article Jeni. I think it’s so good that over time you were able to identify what was happening to you. I’m sure a lot of people will relate and take comfort in knowing there’s a reason and that they’re not alone. 🙏

Thank you Miriam! For a long time, I couldn’t even figure out how to describe it… and even if I could, I wouldn’t have told anyone. It was too strange and scary. Glad I can talk about it now. Thanks for reading the article, I appreciate it so much!🩷

Congratulations on the article being published. Excellent in describing what it feels like to have a panic attack. I’ve had the same for as long as I can remember. It is better now that I take meds and just knowing what it is helps a lot.

I completely agree, I felt much better knowing my symptoms had a name and there was treatment available. Thanks so much for reading and your nice comment, it means a lot!

Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds kinda like a waking dream state. Do you think these episodes are triggered by fear or anxiety ? Have you ever been tested for hormonal or thyroid imbalances?

Hi, thanks for reading! My episodes of derealization are related to my panic disorder. Sometimes triggered by anxiety/panic attack, but sometimes not. Sorry for my late response!
